Revelation of John

John's Revelation is the culmination of "Christ-centred Merkavism." This complex and theatrical writing combines all the images that have been found thus far.

I turned around to see the voice speaking to me. And when I turned I saw 7 golden lamp stands and among the lamp stands was someone "like the son of man" dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest. His head and hair were white as wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire.

His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. In his right hand, he held 7 stars, and out of his mouth came a sharp double-edged sword. When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: "Do not be afraid. I am the first and the last. I am the living one; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever. I hold the keys to death and Hades."

The 7 stars are the angels of the 7 churches and the 7 lamp stands are the 7 churches.

Ephesus: These are the words of him who holds the 7 stars in the right hand and walks among the 7 lamp stands.....

Smyrna: Be careful even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life.

Pergamum: These are the words of him that has the sharp double-edged sword....

Thyatira: These are the words of the Son of G-D, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like blazing bronze.

Sardis: These are the words of him who holds the 7 spirits of G-D and the 7 stars....

Philadelphia: These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David.... I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have so that no one will take your crown. Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my G-D. Never again will he leave it. I will write on him the name of my G-D and the name of the city of my G-D; and I will also write on him my new name.

Laodicea: To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne just as I overcame and sat down with my father on his throne.
